Sunday 3rd March – PAR BEACH – A spring walk around Cornwall’s richest monads. 604 flowering plant and fern species have been seen in SX0753, and 535 in SX0853, after 1999. We will search hard on open parts of Par Dunes for Mibora minima (last seen in 1910) a very small grass that appears early, as well as any other interesting species. Meet at Par Beach car park (free) SX086531.

For this meeting we will be joining with the Cornwall Bryophyte Group. There have been 605 flowering plants and ferns recorded from the western monad SX0753 but no bryophyte records. The west tetrad SX04R also has very few records. A good population of Bryum algovicum var. rutheanum is known from the east end of the beach.

Meet in the beach car park at SX086531 which is free this time of year.

Organiser: Ian Bennallick & Matt Stribley

NOTE – If the winter weather is very cold, wet, snowy or windy (or forecast to be) the meeting may be cancelled at short notice. Therefore, BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL.

All walks start at 10am (try to get to the meeting place by 9.30am) and usually finish at around 4pm, or earlier.  Suitable clothing and footwear is recommended and bring a packed lunch.
