Friday 27th June – WEST PENTIRE SW76 – A chance to see the famously colourful arable fields managed by the National Trust for one of the largest concentration of rarest arable plants in the British Isles, including spectacular displays of red poppies (three species including Common, Rough and Long-headed – Papaver rhoeas, P. hybridum, P. dubium)) and Corn Marigold (Glebionis segetum) in a beautiful coastal setting. Other rare arable plants include Venus’s Looking –glass (Legousia hybrida), Night-flowering Catchfly (Silene noctiflora), Small-flowered Catchfly (Silene anglica), Weasel’s-snout (Misopates orontium) and Corn Parsley (Petroselinum segetum). Some time will be spent at Porth Joke, an unspoilt beach and cove with a nice coastal and dune flora. Meet at the car park at the Bowgie Inn, West Pentire SW77636073 at 10.30am.
