The target species for this meeting is Mylia taylorii which was last recorded at the west end of the tor in the early 70’s. It’s the only known site for this species in Cornwall. The Tor’s tetrad (SX27M) has a species count of 173 but some 70 species have not been since the 60’s.

This is an informal group to encourage they study of bryophytes and recording in Cornwall. Anyone with an interest is welcome to attend meeting. Beginners are welcome as well as those experienced and confident at identifying bryophytes. The only equipment required is a hand lens (x10 or x20) and perhaps some paper packets for collecting specimens for later study. sites visits can be cold, wet and muddy so it’s advisable to wear good boots and bring warm waterproof clothing. All meetings start at 10am and usually finish before 4pm and we usually carry a packed lunch. Booking is not usually required but is desirable. Meeting can be cancelled at short notice if adverse weather is forecast.
