Tim Kellett  of The Cornwall Ancient Tree Forum has sent some information on a tree recording day on 14th April and a plea for volunteer help for a couple of events later in the year. If you are interested please contact him – email kellett4@gmail.com or 07554 277012.

1. A tree recording Event at Tregrehan Garden, St Austell – Sunday 14th April 2013 by kind permission of the owner Tom Hudson.  BOOKING ESSENTIAL

Please confirm if you are interested in attending and I will follow up closer to the day with details.

It is likely to be a 10-4.00 day, bring your own lunch. We will be looking round the wider estate rather than the formal gardens, but you might get chance to visit the gardens as well because it is an open garden day.   Dogs are allowed in the wider estate but not the garden.

[nb. Tregrehan is pronounced Tr’grain].

Reply by 20th March to book on this event.

2. Please join us in some BIG events this spring and help promote the Ancient Tree Hunt.  We are looking for volunteers to staff a CATF stand at two events. You don’t have to be experts!  We would simply like volunteers to chat with visitors, hand out information and take down details of any promising ancient tree locations or invitations to visit their property.  Colin Hawke will be getting some displays together for these events.

The two events are:

The Royal Cornwall Show   –    6, 7 & 8 June 2013

@ Cornwall Show Ground, Wadebridge

http://www.royalcornwallshow.org/

We have been offered space for a stand at this great show by Geraint Richards from the Duchy of Cornwall who runs the Forestry Tent. We have attended in the past and have picked up quite a few invitations to visit property to record new trees.

Heligan Wildlife and Countryside Fair –   25,26 & 27 May  2013   – Bank Holiday Weekend

@ The Lost Gardens of Heligan nr St.Austell

http://www.heligan.com/

The Cornwall Ancient Tree Forum has been invited to have a stand at this brand new event for Cornwall, so it’s a great opportunity to learn and share our interests with other environmental groups and visitors over this bank holiday weekend.    We also hope to run a few Ancient Tree Hunts [or tree trails] through the garden with the help of Jim Briggs a CATF member and one of the Heligan team.

What to do next –

Reply to Tim Kellett ( kellett4@gmail.com or 07554 277012) by Friday 15th March and let Tim know:

1. are you willing to attend a day at either or both events.

2. which days you  can or cannot attend .

Don’t worry if you’re not 100% sure – I know situations can change but I just need a reasonable idea if we can cover a stall each day. They will be great fun!
